What you need
An ordinary Linux server.

No special hardware: your own machine, a virtual machine or a rented server in a data centre will do.

Server and OS

A Linux server with an x86_64 or arm64 CPU, physical or virtual.

Docker and Compose

Every product ships as Docker images. Nothing is built on the server, it just runs.

Domain and TLS

Your own domain and a reverse proxy with TLS in front, such as Caddy, Traefik or nginx.

Storage

Data lives in PostgreSQL. Disk also uses S3-compatible object storage, and a container for it is included.

A separate disk, NAS or remote storage for backups, not the same server.

Installation

Four steps
to the first sign-in.

A standard installation on a prepared server takes a few hours. We can do it for you.

    License and images

    We issue an annual license for your installation and give you access to the Docker images and the configuration file.

  2. 02

    Prepare the server

    Install Docker and set your domain, passwords and keys in the .env file. Secrets stay with you only.

  3. 03

    docker compose up -d

    One command brings up the whole stack. Database migrations run automatically on start.

  4. 04

    Domain and TLS

    Point your domain at the server and enable the proxy with a certificate. Your team signs in over HTTPS.

Updates

A new version means new images. Pull them and restart; the rest happens on its own.

Common questions
about self-hosting.

Do we need a constant internet connection?

No. The products run inside your network, and the license check is designed to work without a constant internet connection. You'll need a connection to download images and updates.

Can we start in the cloud and move to our own server later?

Yes. Start in Strong Cloud and move when you're ready. We can help migrate your data as a separate service.

Who installs and updates it?

Whoever suits you: your administrator or us. Installation is a one-off service; regular updates and help are part of support with SLA.

Which operating systems and CPUs are supported?

A Linux server with Docker and Docker Compose on x86_64 or arm64. Physical server or virtual machine, either works.

How much does it cost?

An annual license per installation; the price depends on the product. Installation, support and data migration are billed separately. See all prices on the Pricing page.

Can we use our existing PostgreSQL and S3?

For Strong Disk, yes: connect an external PostgreSQL database via DATABASE_URL and keep files in any S3-compatible storage. For other products, ask us.
